Today is 成人式(seijinshiki) in Japan!

Have you ever heard 成人式(seijinshiki) before?

It means a coming of age ceremony in Japan.

Seijin no Hi (Coming of Age Day) in Japan is a holiday that celebrates the legal coming of age of young people and their entry into society with the new freedoms that come with adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it.

In the past, one had to have turned 20 years old that year to participate. However, nowadays, a year is generally counted from April 2 of the previous year to April 1 of the current year, in accordance with the Japanese school year. This means that people in the same grade can participate in the coming-of-age ceremony together, even if they are only 19 years old.

After the ceremony, we have our middle school reunion with our teachers, and enjoy catching up with friends we haven't seen in ages!

Anyways, Omedetou gozaimasu!!
